How it actually works

A heat pump does not make heat. It moves it.

In summer it pulls heat out of the house and releases it outside. In a Denver winter the same loop runs in reverse, which is why sizing, the line set and the ductwork matter as much as the equipment itself.

Swipe the diagram sideways

Outdoor unit

Compressor, fan and coil. Cold-climate models keep pulling usable heat from outdoor air well below freezing.

Line set and coil

Refrigerant carries the heat between inside and out. A leak or a poor charge shows up as weak output and long run times.

Ducts and rooms

Good equipment behind restricted ducts still leaves one room that never holds temperature, so airflow is checked too.

How it works

Four steps, no mystery

01

Tell us the goal

Share the equipment, comfort issue, address and whether you're exploring rebates or electrification.

02

Assess the whole system

HVAC load, ductwork, hydronics and electrical capacity are reviewed together where the project requires it.

03

Compare clear options

See the proposed equipment, project scope, eligible incentives and expected net cost before deciding.

04

Install and document

The system is commissioned and qualifying utility or program paperwork is prepared with the project details.
